Kirk Medas Appeared As A Main Cast Member On MTV’s Floribama Shore

Many fans were introduced to Medas as one of the main cast members of the 2017 MTV series, Floribama Shore. The series looked at eight twenty-so methings as they lived together during a summer along the Florida panhandle. The show functioned as a follow-up of sorts to MTV’s Jersey Shore.

According to TMZ, reports have come out that Medas passed away after spending around two weeks in a hospital’s intensive care unit. His family had confirmed the tragic news with the publication.

According to Kirk’s father, doctors claimed the MTV star died from liver failure. He was 33 at the time of his death.

According to Kirk’s family, it was previously announced that he was battling necrotizing pancreatitis. He was also in a coma and needed a machine to breathe.

On May 1, 2025, Kirk’s castmate Aimee Elizabeth Hall took to Instagram to share news of his hospitalization. At the time, she shared, “Our friend Kirk has been in the ICU for over two weeks now, battling a severe case of necrotizing pancreatitis. He’s currently on a ventilator, and the situation is incredibly serious.”

Hall shared that another castmate, Nilsa Prowant, was also at Kirk’s side. As she shared, “Nilsa has been flying back and forth to Miami to be by his side, and I’ve been lucky enough to stay connected through FaceTime with his roommates and close friends who’ve been keeping us updated daily.”

Medas’ Castmates Had Previously Been Keeping Fans Updated About The Star’s Health

“Kirk does not have medical insurance, and his sweet, strong mother has created a GoFundMe to help with the overwhelming expenses. If you’re able to give, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. And if you can’t, your prayers mean just as much.”

Hall then aksed for fans to pray for Kirk, his parents, his friends, and his castmates. As she noted, “We’re all hurting watching our brother fight this battle.” She concluded the post sharing, “Thank you for your love and support.”

At the time, various MTV alumni also shared their support. Jenni “JWOWW” Farley of Jersey Shore fame took to the comments and shared a few prayer emojis.

According to The New York Post, Prowant also talked about Medas during an Instagram reel. At the time, she noted, “I did fly down there and see him. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever seen in my life.”

Prior to his hospitalization, as the publication noted, Medas himself also shared the following message on his own Instagram reel: “Lost a lot the past year but stayed resilient through it all.” He continued, “Mind, body, spirit. Changing my lifestyle completely was the start.”

“Putting down the bottle and picking up the Bible was the best thing I [had] ever done. My only regret is not making such changes earlier on in life.”
