Horror Highlights: SPECTREGRAPH, WHITE BOAT, THE SEEDING, THE BOY FROM BELOW

DSTLRY Launches SPECTREGRAPH, James Tynion IV and Christian Ward’s Psychedelic Haunted-House Descent into Hell: “DSTLRY, the next-generation publisher redefining creator-owned comic books and collectibles, is proud to announce SPECTREGRAPH, a cerebral horror masterpiece crafted by multiple Eisner-award-winners James Tynion IV and Christian Ward, with stunning cover art from Ward and Martin Simmonds (The Department of Truth). The first issue will launch in comic books stores in April 2024.

SPECTREGRAPH revolves around an isolated mansion nestled into the coastline, a short drive north of Los Angeles. Rumors have haunted the place for years—its owner a titan of American industry, with a strange fascination in the occult and the paranormal. The richest men and women in the country have whispered to each other, trying to understand what he was building alone in that mansion for all those years. And now finally, with his death, and his estate open for sale… they can finally find out for themselves.

James Tynion IV, celebrated for his Eisner Award-winning work in The Nice House on the Lake, Something Is Killing the Children, and W0RLDTR33, collaborates with acclaimed artist Christian Ward, known for his medium-pushing work in Batman: City of Madness and Invisible Kingdom. Together, they weave a tale that delves deep into the heart of America’s gilded facade, revealing the spectral decay lurking beneath.

“We’ve been cultivating these ideas for years, and we promise a descent into horror like you’ve never seen before—this is a visceral, confrontational take on the haunted house story,” writer & co-creator James Tynion IV explains.

“SPECTREGRAPH is an acid-fueled psychedelic nightmare. I can’t wait for everyone to experience it and find themselves haunted by our ghosts, The likeS of which have never seen before,” artist & co-creator Ward continues.

“SPECTREGRAPH is more than a ghost story; it’s a journey into the depths of horror and the American psyche.” Chip Mosher and David Steinberger, co-founders of DSTLRY, say in a joint statement. “Tynion IV and Ward have created a narrative that is as haunting as it is insightful. This series epitomizes DSTLRY’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of storytelling and art.”

Teased in the short story of the same name from DSTLRY’s debut anthology, The Devil’s Cut, SPECTREGRAPH is a must-read for fans of cinematic, atmospheric tales such as The Haunting of Hill House and The Conjuring. This series promises to haunt readers with visceral art tethered to a chilling exploration of opulence, power, and corruption.

The series will be available for pre-order and will debut in comic shops and digitally via www.dstlry.co in April 2024. Exclusive incentive variant covers and special editions, including the works of Christian Ward and Martin Simmonds, will be announced shortly.

WHITE BOAT: Scott Snyder and Francesco Francavilla’s Latest Horror Odyssey Sets Sail with DSTLRY: “DSTLRY, the next-generation publisher redefining creator-owned comic books and collectibles, is thrilled to announce the launch of WHITE BOAT, a new horror series from multiple Eisner-award-winners  Scott Snyder and Francesco Francavilla launching this March.

WHITE BOAT revolves around a titular mega-yacht that the super-rich use to traverse the globe—floating islands where your every desire can be fulfilled. And getting invited on board should be a dream come true…that is until the crew traps and transports you to a remote island where secret cults have existed for millennia, working on something called “The Human Project.”  Does the White Boat ship you to paradise or sink you into hell on earth?

WHITE BOAT reunites Scott Snyder, the visionary writer who redefined comic book dread with Wytches and introduced Batman into a terrifying, cerebral era, with modern noir master Francesco Francavilla for a white-knuckle descent into Lovecraftian maritime madness. DSTLRY Founding Editor and frequent Snyder collaborator Will Dennis joins as editor.

“WHITE BOAT is by far my most ambitious and expansive deep dive into horror yet,” writer Scott Snyder explains. “Francesco and I are using DSTLRY’s oversized format to unearth a sprawling and terrifying mythology that spans oceans and continents.”

“I’m very excited to work with Scott and DSTLRY on a project with this scope,” artist Francesco Francavilla continues. “It’s a rare story that balances claustrophobic psychological terror with global conspiracy. It’s simply epic; we can’t wait for you all to embark on this journey with us.”

DSTLRY’s co-founders Chip Mosher and David Steinberger shared their enthusiasm: “WHITE BOAT is not just a comic series; it’s a landmark in modern horror storytelling. Snyder and Francavilla are the perfect duo to bring this haunting vision to life. Their collaboration underscores DSTLRY’s mission to empower creators to push the boundaries of their craft.”

WHITE BOAT will be available for pre-order and will hit shelves at local comic shops and digitally via www.dstlry.co in March 2024. The series will feature multiple covers, including limited edition variants and special incentives for collectors.
