Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber are facing fresh allegations from former Hillsong pastor Carl Lentz and his wife, Laura. The couple claim that the Biebers withdrew their offer to let the family stay in their New York apartment after Carl’s 2020 infidelity scandal. In their new book, the Lentzes describe being asked to leave within 24 hours after Carl’s misconduct became public.
Carl Lentz claims the Biebers kicked his family out after his cheating scandal
In Overcoming Infidelity: 10 Conversations to Help You Heal the Hurt, Laura recalled that the family had been considering a move to Brooklyn for months. She said Justin and Hailey had initially offered their apartment to her, Carl, and their three children.
However, that arrangement allegedly changed when reports of Carl’s infidelity surfaced. “Somebody on Justin’s team [called] to say we needed to be out of his and Hailey’s apartment in the next 24 hours. We hastily packed our things and loaded them into a rented U-Haul,” Laura wrote, according to the Daily Mail.
Carl described the experience as a “kick to the ribs.” At the time, he was already struggling after being dismissed from Hillsong Church in Manhattan over “moral failures.” Although he acknowledged his responsibility for the scandal, he said he felt his wife and children were unfairly affected.
He wrote, “I deserved to be kicked to the curb, but I felt Laura and the kids were just innocent bystanders suffering once again for my sins.” Carl also admitted that the controversy damaged his close friendship with Justin. It dragged the singer and Hailey into a “publicity nightmare they never asked for.”
The couple said many friends stopped communicating with them during that period. However, actor Tyler Perry offered support, allowing the family to stay at his mansion in Manhattan Beach, California. Perry remains close to the Lentzes and recently praised their book on social media.
Justin and Hailey Bieber reportedly unfollowed the Lentz family on social media in 2020. The alleged incident was among the challenges the Lentzes faced following Carl’s infidelity scandal, which they revisit in their new book.
