Kim Kardashian allegedly experienced a frightening situation while filming Keeping Up With the Kardashians. A new biography recounts an incident during her 2018 trip to Uganda with Kanye West. The book’s account comes from the reality show’s executive producer, Farnaz Farjam.

KUWTK producer alleges Kim Kardashian faced an armed police officer during 2018 Uganda trip

According to Entertainment Weekly, journalist Jonathan Van Meter details the incident in Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created the Future. The biography explores Kardashian’s career, business ventures, and personal life. It also examines her marriage to West, which lasted from 2014 until their divorce in 2022.

Van Meter writes that the couple was filming Keeping Up With the Kardashians at a remote location in Uganda. According to Farjam, West became paranoid and agitated during the trip. She claimed that his behavior led to the involvement of local police.

“He basically got the local police to believe that people were trying to drug him and so they came and they had guns out,” Farjam said, according to Van Meter. She also alleged that West had officers search everyone’s rooms. Farjam’s account describes how the situation allegedly escalated during filming.

According to Van Meter’s account, one police officer allegedly held a gun to Kardashian’s head. “‘It was intense,’ said Farnaz,” he wrote. Farjam reportedly arranged a private jet to evacuate her crew from the location.

The book also describes how Farjam reportedly responded to the incident. Van Meter writes that Farjam forgave West because she believed his behavior was related to his bipolar disorder. She reportedly believed he had been experiencing a manic episode at the time.

The alleged incident followed growing public scrutiny of West’s behavior. Before the Uganda trip, he delivered a pro-Donald Trump speech on Saturday Night Live. Kardashian reportedly felt uncomfortable with the political statements and public outbursts.

At the time, a source told PEOPLE that Kardashian admired West’s brilliance but was upset by his public remarks. The source said Kardashian hoped West would calm down. Kardashian later addressed his bipolar disorder publicly in a 2020 statement.

She described West as “a brilliant but complicated person” while discussing his struggles. Kardashian also urged the public to show compassion toward people experiencing mental health challenges. Her statement emphasized the pressures surrounding his life and career.
