I have been covering true crime for Dread Central for a few years now. I would normally say that nothing shocks me at this point. However, I think I have outdone myself with this latest development. I recently caught wind of a disruptive display out of Cincinnati, Ohio that momentarily rendered me speechless. Brace yourself, dear reader.
Court documents reviewed by Fox 19 reveal that Laura Miniard allegedly entered the chapel at the Good Samaritan Hospital and defecated on the altar in May of 2023. That’s a bold move in and of itself. However, according to the police report, the accused was just getting started at that point. Official documents suggest that Miniard then wiped her behind on the carpet runner affixed to the altar stairs. Then, she allegedly picked up a photo she found elsewhere in the chapel and used the picture to smear excrement all over the altar table. Authorities arrested the suspect on charges of felony desecration.
That is a messy display of unpleasantness, to say the least. Why did the alleged perpetrator defile the hospital chapel? That remains a complete mystery. As it turns out, the court documents do not list a motive. However, The Smoking Gun did learn of a few updates on the case in the months following the alleged act of desecration. The site reports that Miniard pled not guilty by reason of insanity at one of her court hearings. From there, she reportedly skipped a court date, had her bond revoked, not once, but twice, left the state without permission, and removed an electronic monitoring device that she was wearing as a condition of her bond.
Court documents reveal that Miniard lives in Loveland (a Cincinnati suburb) with her mother and that she is licensed through Ohio’s Casino Control Commission as a casino gaming employee.
The last update on the case comes from November of 2023. Hopefully, Ms. Miniard has since corrected course and remains on the straight and narrow. However, you can rest assured that if we learn of any new developments in this shocking saga, we will update you posthaste.
