Peel Back the Layers of Surgical Obsessions in Our Exclusive Look at Process Art from INVASIVE #1 and Cover Reveals for INVASIVE #2

Several years after teaming up for the return of The Empty Man, writer Cullen Bunn and illustrator Jesús Hervás are reuniting to bring more nightmare fuel to readers with their new Oni Press comic book series Invasive, which peels back the grisly layers of a macabre mystery involving “murder surgeons.” Following our exclusive look at the character designs and variant cover reveals for the first issue of Invasive, we’re thrilled to exclusively unveil uncolored process art from the series’ first issue (releasing on December 6th), and we also have a look at the chilling covers for Invasive #2 (coming out on January 10th)!

Members of a surgery support group discuss their obsession with going under the knife in our exclusive look at uncolored process art pages from Invasive #1 below, and you can get an idea of the surgical scares that await readers in the second issue with our exclusive reveal of the eerie covers for Invasive #2!

We also have the official press release with additional details on Invasive, and to stay up to date on all of Oni Press’ exciting releases, visit their website!

Also, in case you missed it, read our recent Q&A with Cullen Bunn about his new horror novel Crooked Hills, now on Kickstarter!

Press Release: PORTLAND, OR – Oni Press, is proud to announce INVASIVE #1 (of 4) – a terrifying new experiment in pain from Eisner Award nominee Cullen Bunn (THE SIXTH GUN, BASILISK) and acclaimed illustrator Jesús Hervás (THE EMPTY MAN), beginning in December 2023!

“INVASIVE might very well go down as Cullen Bunn’s ultimate statement on what the horror comic can and should be. As both a mystery and meditation on the addictive nature of power, INVASIVE is one of the most compelling, thought-provoking, and genuinely rattling projects that I have ever had the privilege to shepherd forward,” said Oni Press President & Publisher Hunter Gorinson. “We can’t share too much for fear of spoiling what Cullen and Jesús have planned, except to say this: No matter what you think…you are not ready.”

“INVASIVE is a thing of nightmare. For me, literally,” said Cullen Bunn. “The initial seed of the idea sprang from a terrifying nightmare that startled me awake in the dark. While developing the idea, I was beset by even more nightmares. And while writing it? You guessed it. Nightmares. It’s a book that worries and haunts me, and I think it represents a bit of a signpost in the road of my approach to horror in general. I believe that in the years to come, it will be thought of as one of my most disturbing stories.”

Look for more details about INVASIVE to be revealed in the months ahead…and, in the meantime, Oni Press is offering backers of the currently ongoing SIXTH GUN DELUXE OMNIBUS LIBRARY campaign on Kickstarter a special look ahead at the upcoming series! In tandem with this announcement, Oni Press is revealing a secret Stretch Goal for the ongoing campaign collecting the entirety of Cullen Bunn & Brian Hurtt’s action-adventure masterwork with the INVASIVE #1 ASHCAN – a top-secret, limited-edition bonus item that will be automatically awarded to all physical backers at the Tier 3 level or higher!

Visit THE SIXTH DELUXE OMNIBUS LIBRARY here and look for INVASIVE #1 (of 4) – coming in December, only from Oni Press!
