The star of Bravo’s The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys is reflecting on the past week of cheating allegations and leaked texts, and he’s ready to take an ounce of accountability. He just announced that he will attend a “retreat” to address his anger issues, and he’ll be back in six days.
Steven hopes to “break the cycle” during a six-day retreat
In case you missed this latest Missouri-based nonsense, Steven Jr went viral this week after crashing out online and accusing Allie of cheating on him at Stagecoach. According to Steven, his phone blew up with videos of her being inappropriate with a guy. He said it felt especially hurtful because they were just talking about their future together.
He quickly lost any bit of sympathy from Bravo fans when Allie and his other ex-girlfriend, Calah Jackson, put him on blast, exposing the aggressive, degrading, and misogynistic texts he allegedly sent to them. The backlash since then has been nonstop, so Steve went to Us Weekly to discuss next steps.
In the interview, he claimed to have more video footage showing Allie’s behavior at Stagecoach, but he supposedly doesn’t want to keep this drama going.
“I don’t want to drag this out anymore,” he said. “This is about someone else and their decisions … I can only control myself.”
Although adamant that he felt the sting of betrayal, Steven admitted that he crossed a line in his communication. It’s behavior that he needs to reflect upon, regardless of what may or may not have happened at Stagecoach.
“I am embarrassed, humiliated for myself, my family,” said Steven, whose father is in prison for defrauding the government.
“There’s no excuse or justification,” he continued. “I do have an anger problem. I’ll be the first to admit it. The result of my actions has me in the situation I’m in today. This was a major, major step backwards.”
Steven revealed that he has been in therapy on and off for a few years to address his anger issues. He’s also been in “weekly sessions for the past six months.” However, this week’s shennagians proved that needs something more intensive. That’s why he has made the decision to enter this six-day retreat designed to “address his emotional patterns.”
“It’s about breaking the family cycle of trauma,” Steven said. “The anger, the high-intensity emotions that I have, it’s something that I’ve experienced growing up. I hate to say it’s genetic or passed down, but I saw it growing up. And I don’t want to say it became the norm because I know that’s not OK. But it’s harder to break the cycle than I thought.”
