Allison Janney’s Emmys 2026 tribute to missing Nancy Guthrie deeply touched Savannah Guthrie and her family
According to Page Six, Savannah Guthrie teared up when Allison Janney mentioned her mother at Monday evening’s Emmys 2026. “It was her moment, her triumph,” the “Today” show co-host told viewers. She added, “For her to sit and just take a moment to think about our family [meant a lot].”
The 54-year-old said, “I never let a moment pass if I get one to talk about my mom and how I miss her.”
She became emotional up on screen as co-host Eillie Geist shared the FBI tip line with viewers. “We need help,” Savannah continued. “Thank you, Allison Janney, for remembering us and giving me an opportunity for me to renew that call. We just want our mom home [to] give her a proper goodbye. That’s all.”
“Our family needs you,” she pleaded.
Today co-host Al Roker said in solidarity, “Allison Janney speaks for almost everybody out there in America. We appreciate her bringing that to us.”
Janney won an award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for playing President Grace Penn in Netflix’s “The Diplomat”. Though she did not bring up Nancy Guthrie in the official acceptance speech, she did address her case in the press room.
Answering a question about the disappeared 84-year-old, Allison said, “I … think about the loss and what Savannah and her family are going through. It truly just took over.” “I don’t think I’m alone too,” the “West Wing” alum said.
Savannah Guthrie previously begged her followers to reach out with any relevant information previously. “If you know anything — anything at all — please come forward,” she urged, writing that her loved ones’ “hearts are in ruins.”
Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, disappeared from her Tucson-area home in February 2026.
