Craig Conover’s Comments About Paige DeSorbo Split Feel Weird

It’s been a minute since Paige DeSorbo and Craig Conover announced their split. Since then, fans have been riding a rollercoaster of emotions. The once-strong Bravo couple have proven that even reality TV gods can take a tumble. Recently, Craig spoke out, but his words seemed to miss the mark for some.

Someone check on Craig Conover

It took a couple of days, but Craig is finally sharing his side of the break with fans. While sitting on his front porch in Charleston, he started by saying, “I figured it’s finally time to check in with everyone, sorry about the delay. This has all been very, very unexpected, to say the least.” The statement came as a surprise, especially since Paige had made it seem both were on the same page. The Southern Charm star continued, “I was very shocked, and it’s ok, it takes two people to be in a relationship. You can’t control other people you can only control how you react to it. I’ve got to start living again.” He also added he was trying to figure out his “new normal.”

During his video, where he seemed to channel his inner Justin Bieber thanks to his shaggy hair he told fans to be kind to Paige. “I’m still processing everything, which is normal, I mean, three-year relationship, it’s your best friend who you talk to all day, every day, and then they’re just gone,” he noted. “So one day, I’ll be able to talk more on it, but right now, I just wanted to thank everyone for their kind messages. It has been really nice to read them and it’s just life.”

Paige DeSorbo sang a different tune

Craig continued by saying, “Gratitude will get you through this. With clarity, all of the advice I’m trying to listen to. I have to take my own advice that I give when I go around and speak at these home shows that no one is better off after a breakup. But now I have to practice what I preach.” The Sewing Down South founder seemed prepared for his video and not exactly heart broken as he insinuated there was more to the story.

Paige announced the news of their split shortly before New Year’s while on her podcast, Giggly Squad. She told Hannah Berner, “I think we both were just being really mature and saying what we want and what we didn’t want. And I think that’s extremely powerful to be able to voice how you’re feeling in real-time and what you want for your future.” The Summer House star revealed she sees Craig staying in her life as a friend. She noted, “I think he is one of the best people I’ve met in my entire life. I will remain the biggest fan of him and want the best for him, and he truly will get the best because he is the best.”

Is Craig Conover being sincere?

So, even though both Paige and Craig gave pretty vanilla statements, why do I feel so weird? The Martha Stewart of Bravo lured me in with his fluffy headband and cozy white sweater, but something about his well-prepared speech felt off. Paige has done everything to shut down cheating rumors and make a point that their paths just started to separate out of a need for one another to grow. But Craigy, well, Craig made me feel like there was something sinister afoot. He closed out his video by telling fans that “everything happens for a reason,” but I didn’t necessarily believe him.

It was obvious Craig wanted the wife, 2.5 kids, and the American Dream. He’s wanted this since day one. But it was also pretty clear that Paige didn’t want that cookie-cutter mold for herself. It almost feels like he wants to place blame on her for the demise of the relationship. And yes, she might have been the one to pull the trigger. But I don’t like how he is going about setting thirst traps for followers. Now, before the trolls come after me, let me clarify: I’m not going after Craig. I just want the whole truth and nothing but the truth. For all we know, this breakup could be a PR stunt to ensure both get their contracts renewed…just saying.

Southern Charm is available to stream on Peacock.
