Drummer Frank Ferrer Expresses “Disappointment” in Guns N’ Roses Exit

As reported earlier this week, Guns N’ Roses have parted ways with drummer Frank Ferrer, replacing him with Isaac Carpenter. While a press release described Ferrer’s departure as “amicable,” a new statement from Ferrer suggests that the decision wasn’t necessarily mutual.

Ferrer posted a note a Instagram, mostly expressing appreciation to Axl Rose and the band for his 19 years in the legendary rock act. However, he did say that he felt “disappointment that this chapter came to an end.”

The drummer’s full statement reads:

“The outpouring of love I have felt from the incredible fans of Guns N’ Roses and my peers over the past 24 hours has been tremendous. I will have immense gratitude and love always for Axl and the band while at the same time, disappointment that this chapter came to an end. It has been an incredible 19 years. Guns N’ Roses has given me life-changing memories and experiences. A huge thanks to management, the crew, and fans for giving me memories that I will cherish for my lifetime. I hope I see you all again soon!”

Ferrer joined GN’R in June 2006, playing on several tracks on 2008’s Chinese Democracy and performing live with the band until their most recent show, which was November 5th, 2023 at the Heaven & Hell festival in Mexico. At 19 years, he was the longest-serving drummer in Guns N’ Roses’ history.

AWOLNATION’s Isaac Carpenter now takes over the GN’R drum throne, and will be behind the kit for the band’s upcoming international tour kicking off May 1st in Incheon, South Korea. Guns N’ Roses have dates scheduled in Asia, the Middle East, and Europe through a July 31st gig at the Wacken Open Air festival in Germany. Pick up tickets here.
