Iconic Star Wars Memorabilia Gets Stolen, Lucasfilm Asks Fans for Help

A piece of classic Star Wars memorabilia has been stolen recently, and Lucasfilm is getting in on trying to figure out what happened.

A 1999 Star Wars: The Phantom Menace-themed vending machine that was seated outside of a fire station in Mount Washington in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania was reported as missing this week. The vending machine, which featured a young Anakin Skywalker on it, was replaced by a new vending machine with a homemade art design on it imitating the original’s.

The status of the vending machine was unknown for some time, with Lucasfilm even stepping in to take to social media to ask if people had knowledge of where the original went. However, it seems like the “crime” has been solved as of now, and may or may not just be an internet stunt from a content creator.

Content creator takes credit for stealing Star Wars vending machine

In a recent post on Instagram, Braeden Days, a content creator known for his stunts of “stealing” some famous monuments from outside of local places like gas stations or truckstops, posted a video revealing that it was actually him who took the vending machine.

The reason for the “theft,” according to Days, was because the machine had been broken for three years, despite Pepsi allegedly supplying $10,000 to keep the machine stocked.

Days’ video includes a brief look at the stolen vending machine, with a caption that asserts that it’s fine and will be returned, but is demanding information about the missing $10,000, and what happened to make the machine no longer work.

While it’s unsure if this is just one big stunt from Days and the owners of the machine, we’ll have to wait for a second part to his video for more info.
